The things he says

by Tiffany   Sep 6, 2007

Throw away everything, just start over new.
When you're hanging on, it's the only thing to do.

Wash away those tears, don't let him know your hurt.
Worry about yourself for once, put yourself on red alert.

You were there when he was hurting, it was blown out of proportion.
He listened to you cry through depression and distortion.

He was on the line but never really there.
His mind was somewhere else and he really didn't care.

He says things about wanting to be together but takes two steps back,
You want things to just work out and to be replaced back on track.

You dated other people to try and replace the emptiness but you're empty.
You thought you could make things work out, those memories won't exempt me.

He brags about another girl, it cuts your heart real deep.
You never bragged when you weren't together, and now you cry yourself to sleep.

He doesn't respect you or care when your eyes release and cry.
Those tears that set you off, and waiting for them to die.

You watch all the couples holding eachother hand and hand,
You sit alone on the beach carving hearts into the sand.

You both were together so long, couldn't love set things right?
Wouldn't that be the inspiration to hold on through the fight?

Where did the love go, is it drifting in the past?
Didn't you guys mean it when you wanted things to last?

You messed up real bad you know, but then again so did he,
You both were young and vulnerable, and there was so much to love to recieve.

You gave it your all and yet you still managed to make mistakes,
Now he won't let those go, and his passion for you decays.

"They say if you love something, set it free and it'll come back," what a lie,
Life doesn't work out that way, and love breaks you up, and hangs you out to dry.

Now you babble on in a poem for a fluke; a lost cause,
Then you glance at his picture, and for a moment then you pause.

You remember everything you did with him, and the things to show you cared.
He put all the blame on you, and your feelings were never spared.

You wonder why he tells you sweet words, and takes your heart in hand.
Then he tells you all your flaws, and the things he cannot stand.

He says he can't trust you, how are you sure of anything he's doing there?
I thought I had it, but I guess true love isn't found, it's rare.

So I need to get myself together since the tears are as dry as dust.
I need to set my mind on feeling good about myself, and let emotions turn to rust.

I need to let that hold he had, disappear and fade away,
I need to get over that he made me smile, and knew just what to say.

I have to erase purity there was when he looked into my eyes,
I need to let him move on with his life, so his happiness can arise.

In life you need to know when to move on, even if you miss their hold,
You can't expect people to still wait for you as the years with you get old.

You can't expect someone to travel just to see your face,
You can't be sure that they even cared, and if you are replaced.

I hope he knows that I love him, and would've given up it all,
I'll leave my heart in peices, but will stand when I fall.

Take the plead and take the 5th,
for his love for you, was just a myth.
