Time Goes by

by Jayleen   Sep 7, 2007

Time goes by so fast.
I can't hold on anymore.
It used to be I was
4 years old-now I'm 16.

I used to like Barbies,
and watch Disney movies.
Boyfriends didn't exist yet,
and time meant nothing.

Now, the Barbie is trash,
the movies are rated R.
Boyfriends come and go
and I'm running out of time.

A box was my kingdom,
I was the queen.
I wanted a pony;
and my mom did my hair.

That box is now in storage,
I'm too old to play that now.
The dog replaced the pony,
and no one else can touch my hair.

What happened to those little dresses?
Or my childish imagination.
Remember when I used to stumble in dad's shoes.
Now I fit them perfectly.
I'm taller than mom too.

What happened to joyous fishing trips?
When did texting become my life?
Remember when your life was playing state tag.
Or who's desk was more organized.

Halloween was the best!
Christmas was even better!
All the toys and candy!
Disappeared in thin air.

Writing essays; solving equations;
that is my life now.
Soon I'll be out there
All alone to make more of myself.

How did this point arrive so fast?
What happened to going to kindergarten?
I miss my recess and nap-time;
I wish I could go back in time....
