The Kiss of Dawn

by Cooper   Sep 7, 2007

***Luckily...I just caught the sunrise as I posted "Confessions". Beautiful one today. And, as planned, it gave me some inspiration.
Mind you...this is not specifically about today's sunrise, but how it reflects how I feel sometimes.
Okay...most of the time.
Maybe all.
....Read the poem***

Pale moonlit fragments of skin,
stitching the wounds upon my lips.

Like a razorblade kiss,
given by butterflies of antique glass,
drinking eternally; the blood from my past.

So sweet,
painting conclusions on my face,
dripping imperfections into the icy water at my feet.
Let me taste the bitter decay,
the essence of what makes me,
me,
as I sleep upon the kiss of dawn.

Slowly rising from the torn edges of sorrow,
cascading porcelain light unto tomorrow.
And I feel it break,
shedding withered bouquets of emotions,
and the shadows weep, soaking trees with their tears.

But here I lay naked,
atrocious, shivering and displayed for all to see,
reflecting smiles hung upon the cloudy sea.

Thus,
the kiss of dawn; left me,
wondering where I went wrong.

Another one powerful and filled with hidden meanings. I like the choice of words in it, and the descriptions are flawless. Whole piece is excellently written, from the beginning to the end.
Ending stanza is especially effective and captivating, and my favorite part of the poem is:

    -Like a razorblade kiss,
given by butterflies of antique glass,
drinking eternally; the blood from my past.-
