So Far Away

by Amy Hernandez   Sep 8, 2007

She sits quietly,
Staring at you,
Your back's turned,
Your face stern.
Your so close,
Yet still so far away.

She tries to talk,
Your eyes are on the floor,
Never turning to look at her.
As she listens,
You talk and laugh with friends,
Her eyes fill with tears.

After a bit more thinking,
Her eyes return to you,
To your stiff back,
You left facing her.

In three seconds,
All the great memories,
Rush through her restless mind.
She broke all the rules,
To talk to you,
To see you.

She's zoned out,
Someone asks if shes Okay,
She says yes,
But herself she knows better.

Her eyes quickly return to you,
You seem to be thinking,
She wonders if your thinking,
About the same as she.

Still, with his back turned,
His stern expression,
He is so close,
Yet he seems so far away.
She has to ask,
Who are you?
