Rainfall

by Viola   Sep 9, 2007

The darkening of the tranquil sky above
As gray clouds overtake the clear blue horizon
And trouble the purity of what used to be

An outburst-- the silence is now broken
By the sound of free falling drops
That hit the ground vigorously

The sky weeps on this lonely afternoon
Its cry--the music of the tapping on a drum
The sound that fills the vacant city streets

Tiny droplets of cold water
That plop themselves in bubbling puddles
And cause that rippling effect upon them

Naturally the breeze becomes a cooling wind
As the rain falls, and the world below is washed
By a dazzle of falling light
