The pleasure/pain of the change

by Beauty In The Breaking   Sep 11, 2007

The full moon is rising
high above the treetops,
the wind starts to blow picking up leafs
sending them dancing to an eerie tune,
tonight is the night of the wolves.

Moonlight as bright as day
and crickets stopping their song,
the sound of many paws
beating on the ground
as the pack of the full moon runs.

One lone howl splits the silence,
a sad and yet joyful sound
and the others pick up the call.

The pop of bone and muscle
and restlessness so strong,
the change is coming on me
and freedom is in sight,
the beauty of my dual nature.

Black fur takes the place of skin,
muzzle in place of face,
the change is painful every time
but it's pleasure/pain combined.

The change is completed,
a pleasure far beyond any humans can know,
ready to leap through the air and run wild
and taste the winds of the night.

I'm Loup-Garou,
a child of the moon and night
running free with the winds of twilight,
the guardian of the forests
and proud to be this way.

^I don't like this stanza and I also don't like the last sine.
Rest of this poem is great, it has excellent imagery and you made some special rhythm, it really has incredible atmosphere. I like how you painted story with words and this poem has some interesting emotions. Well done, it deserves 5/5
