The Vision [Constanza]

by Twisted Heart   Sep 11, 2007

From far away she felt his stare
Upon her face a gentle light
Came to steal her from his sight

"A vision", he said "one so fair"
A gentle ray to light his smile
And make him ponder life awhile

Red ruby lips and golden hair
Spun satin through his fingers weave
Like fable lore and make believe.

A tender moment they could share
To reap the harvest of a kiss
Inside his mind he yearns for this

Has caught him up quite unaware
His breath held fast inside his heart
As dreams burst upward to the stars.

The Constanza, created by Connie Marcum Wong, consists of five or more 3-line stanzas. Each
line has a set meter of eight syllables. The first lines of all the stanzas can be read successively as an
independent poem, with the rest of the poem weaved in to express a deeper meaning. The first lines
convey a theme written in monorhyme, while the second and third lines of each stanza rhyme together.

Rhyme scheme: a/b/b, a/c/c, a/d/d, a/e/e, a/f/f.........etc.

Impressive. I like the imagery which makes this effective and the word choice added something to it along with the flow. I think the second stanza stands out more to me than the others yet altogether each adds another aspect to this piece. A different structure and style that was used effectively.
