Licence to Kill

by Eclipse   Sep 11, 2007

The Licence to Kill is bestowed upon countless,
And Countless shall perish attempting to use it,
They are all pawns,
In this game we call life,
And the Licence to Kill is the 'check' before fall.

The Licence to Kill comes with a weapon,
A weapon that can not be controlled,
From 0-100 in less than 8 seconds,
Yet 70-0 in a blink of an eye,
An arsenal of destruction in a thin metal frame,
Adolescent fool, with perdition in mind,
Two hands on the trigger,
And flames in the eyes,
There lay the Licence to Kill, just in sight.

The Licence to Kill is a privilege to have,
A rite of passage, an honour to hold,
With it comes authority that can't be denied,
The Laws don't apply,
And rules seem to fade,
The Licence to kill, a true grail of rewards.

I now have the Licence,
I now am the pawn,
My hands are the triggers,
My eyes are that burn,
The privilege is mine,
And mine it will stay,
My Licence to Kill, and collect my reward.

Great poem. I really loved it. It didnt feel like you were forcing the words out under pressure to make it rythm like you see in a lot of other poems. Well penned.
