Impressionism

by Beautiful Chaos   Sep 11, 2007

I see you
Smiling at me from across the room
I remember those lips

So soft, so sweet
So twisted and mean
The photograph doesn't capture that

But I remember
Every moment
Every word
Trapped in my mind

The tender and the bitter
Two sides to a coin
Oh but the human spirit
Made of so much more

A complicated mass
Blood, bone, skin
Mind, heart, emotion
Chaos and perfection all at once

We are life and death
A single picture
But a whisper
Revealing only what we wish

This is my favourite [so far] that I've read of yours. I could really, really relate to this, so that's probably why I got into it so much. I could clearly understand it.

    Wonderful job.

The second stanza of this is probably my favourite, when you realise that this isn't merely a romantic memory, but something more complex than that.
The last stanza is brilliant also, it captures the idea that a photograph has so much going on behind it really well. I love this poem!
