Love Me a Little Less

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Sep 11, 2007

"I can`t even look at you," she mutters in disgust,
Looking to blue eyes painted with a tinge of lust;
"You`re sick, get away from me!" she yells out loud,
Trying to forget the promises that were vowed.

She watched the strangers come and go every night,
Telling herself that in the end she would be alright,
But right now she`s not feeling all that great,
As she sits on the edge of their bed to wait.

He`ll come home with a bouquet of flowers, a bottle of wine;
Asking how her day was, making sure she`s feeling fine;
Taking her by the hand, he`ll lead her out under the stars --
With a kiss, he`ll promise her: "The stars are always ours".

She wipes the tears from her eyes and grabs a pen,
Knowing that she won`t be able to face him again --
On a tear stained notepad, she slowly starts to write:
"Love me a little less, and I may come back one night..

The anonymous faces, they came and they went --
With the perfume you bought me, I`d cover the scent;
Facing you with a fabricated smile, I lied and I lied --
I never thought this love would be my bittersweet suicide...

I`m leaving on a greyhound bus bound to nowhere,
And maybe one day when I hear that you just don`t care,
I`ll come back and pretend I`m over you like you`re over me;
Release the chains and finally set your broken heart free."

Putting down the pen she caught her breath and ran,
She went as far away as she could, missing a plan --
Old hotel rooms and dirty strangers in run-down bars:
It`s the life she chose to try to heal all of her scars.

If this is confusing, the person she is talking to that "disgusts" her is her reflection in the mirror.

    Until you mentioned it, I thought she was talking to her boyfriend when she said she "disgusts" someone. But I get it now. :]

    The flow and rhyming in this were wonderful. Nothing ever seems forced with your work, which I love.

    Awesome. =)
