The Lost

The Lost
By Mark Spencer

The one who finds his earthly place,
Has lost his way to God.
The world consumes us in the end,
Along with our facade.

Man hides behind his pretenses,
While selfishly he strives,
To gain more than he started with,
Improving earthly lives.

But when the twilight veil descends,
Upon our hopes and dreams,
We'll face death's cold embrace alone,
For none shall hear our screams.

So do not be seduced by lies,
You only have one choice.
Cling to the comforts of the world,
Or follow our Lord's voice.

But try not to delude yourself,
You do not walk with Christ.
The things you do are for yourself.
What have you sacrificed?

A missionary's life you say?
How did that feel inside?
Was it fulfilling to the soul,
Leaving you gratified?

Was it the deed or the reward,
That motivated you?
Could you have given up your life
To see the mission through?

And what of Christianity,
With its congregations?
Do any really follow Christ,
Or just His salvation?

There is a way to prove your faith,
Just go out on a limb,
Sell every worldly thing you own,
And follow only Him.

Let God provide for every need,
Give up your home and car.
No more depending on the world,
Be guided by His star.

For that's what you would have to do,
To prove where your faith lies.
Is it God you trust, or the world?
There is no compromise.

But those who choose the world must learn,
That each choice has a cost.
The road that leads away from God,
Is traveled by the lost.

End.
