Not Free

A man went off to war that day.
Three children sat in bed to prey.

A lonely solider closed his eyes
as smoke from gunshot filled the skies.

A wife at home sat alone.
Scared to death she'd stay that way

she'd prey harder every day.
A solider now in the midst of war

had finally just found a door
a door that opened to his heart

a piece of him that could not part.
A wife, three kids still held his heart.

His mind went back to the war,
but something happened not intended

two shots and his life had ended.
Three children sit in church today

ready to make their first prayer.
One for father safe and sound

walking on the holy ground.
One for mom to fill a hole

that lay deep down inside her soul.
Final words must be said

a woman stands on behalf the dead.
She shuts her eyes says let it be

my heart has told me freedoms not free
