and how on a young heart it can be rough
you think you meet the perfect guy
but all you do is sit and cry
he seems so perfect in every way
but it was never here to stay
a broken heart, a shed tear
a black eye, a new fear
you see he wasn't the prince i thought
and i could be dead if he wasn't caught
he said it was only a once time thing
and he was truly sorry, he did take me in
he held my body, held me tight
and said that everything would be alright
he said he was the only one who cared
but why am i so scared?
we lived in the flat, perfect together
everyone believed it was meant forever
but if only they could see past the smile

then it all happened, that dreadful night

and he held me down and began to choke
my life flashed before my eyes
and then suddenly i did realize

so i got to win this battle on my own
i shrugged him off, turned on him

the fear i held, no longer there
and i soon realized, i did not care
because i didn't need him at all
he wasn't there when i would fall
or when days were rough
or when life became so tough

but life sometimes never goes to plan
and we end up in places we never thought true
