Smiling

by TwilightSecrets   Sep 13, 2007

Smiling bright on her 7th birthday
A small little girl with not much to say
A little boy sees her shy smile and bright eyes
but even then he also sees all her lies

Smiling happily on her 8th birthday
The same little girl with nothing to say
The same little boy sees her sad blue eyes
But this time he sees hurt not lies

Smiling forcefully on her 9th birthday
That little girl with nothing to say
That little boy sees the bruise on her cheek
and knows her father has hit her this week

Not even smiling on her 10th birthday
That little girl with a lot to say
That little boy sees the anger and hurt on her face
Her father had killed her mother over a car race

Smiling unhappily on her 11th birthday
That older girl with little left to say
That older boy sees the courage she needs
But he also sees the way she pleads

Smiling with courage on her 12th birthday
That poor girl with something to say
That unhappy boy sees that look in her eyes
He still doesn't face her- he knows what will happen if he tries

Smiling with experience on her 13th birthday
That pretty girl with something to say
That cute boy sees the maturity in her body
And he finely sees her as more then a hotty

Smiling with life on her 14th birthday
That beautiful lady with something to say
That handsome man sees the joy she has found
But knows her hopes will soon hit the ground

Smiling with difficulty on her 15th birthday
That beautiful lady with something to say
That handsome man sees her broken arm
Hits himself for wishing her no harm

Smiling in excitement on her 16th birthday
That beautiful lady with something to say
That handsome man sees the laughter there
and that shine in her beautiful hair

Smiling with confusion on her 17th birthday
that beautiful lady with something to say
That handsome man questions the confusion
And smiles as he remembers she had detention

Smiling with a frown on her 18th birthday
That beautiful woman with something to say
That gorgeous man sees her coming near
He almost smiles hoping what he will hear

She stops in front of him the girl he knew all his life
The girl he has always wanted as his wife
She opens her mouth and he knew it was true
"I have something to say-I've always loved you."

Smiling with contentment on her 19th birthday
That little girl with nothing left to say
That little boy kissing his wife "happy birthday"
And thats all there really is to say.
