Hey there

by Melissa   Sep 13, 2007

Hey there best friend
could you possibly wag your sharp tongue
just a little to the left,
I don't think you've mangled my heart enough-

at least not yet

There's still a faint beat
tickling these fingertips
with a wry truth
I'm afraid to scratch off

and wonder is itching me
like a sunburn
far beneath the flesh
where it won't peel away

it just festers and aches, how painful

The line -at least not yet- adds great effect to the atmosphere and the flow of whole piece.

    5/5 from me

I love the sarcasm in this Melissa - It cuts as well as the "sharp tongue" And your use of language is first rate!
