Trick or Treat

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Sep 14, 2007

Frost covered the raw green grass outside,
As all the birds flew to their homes to hide --
Fall`s in the air, the days are getting colder;
And the months keep on growing older.

The leaves are changing colors, trees bare;
Children are watching their warm breath in the air;
Laughing and playing in piles of raked up leaves,
Disappearing on the crisp Autumn Eve`s.

From pumpkins and ghosts to witches and gnomes --
The festive spirit is clustered in neighborhood homes,
Costumes and face paints, the time is finally here;
Children`s happy smiles reaching from ear to ear.

Light the Jack`o`lantern and watch it`s bright smile,
Set the candy onto the mantle in a little pile,
Door bells ring, and you wait to hear the phrase --
"Trick or Treat" -- the words that give your spirits a raise.

Candy bags and Haunted houses, what a night;
Acting like the little ones are giving you a fright,
The night gets dark and the time goes on;
Until the next time Dear Autumn comes anon.

    You had some very vivid descriptions and I liked the overall feeling of the poem. The rhymes were good and flow was awesome. Really good poem! Nothing to "complain" about. ^_^
