Empty Arm's Regret

by Twisted Heart   Sep 14, 2007

Silence echo down the halls
Upon the heart, a teardrop falls
Inside the soul a hurt to bear
Cascades of white and sterile fair.

Vacant eyes in distant sleep
Tore from the soul, a tear to weep
No sound to stay upon his breath
The tender soul consumed in death

Was there no hope as darkness came
Behind his eyes, his soul to claim
Against the night in shadows cast
His daughter's feel of guilt came fast.

A time of torment filled with 'what ifs'
Tears fall upon her trembling lips
A moment came too late to see
Before her father ceased to breathe.

Too busy, was her reason then
To distance herself from her kin
Though many years had past them by
In pain, she stays to question why.

Time with her father... she felt no need
When she had time, there he'd be
But time has come, he's laid to rest
In empty arms, she holds regret.

This poem is really great i especially liked the third stanza,

A time of torment filled with 'what ifs'
Tears fall upon her trembling lips
A moment came too late to see
Before her father ceased to breathe.
