What Happened To Our Home

by QuietStorm   Sep 15, 2007

Their once was a place I knew
it sheltered me from harm,
it was big, it was tall,
it was beautiful.
I thought we had it all.

Three other sibling's shared
that time and space with me.
Two brothers, one sister
our dogs a cat
we were a family.

A basement, a backyard
one cat and three dogs,
yes we were spoiled brats.

A boat, four car's,
my mom and dad too,
a tow truck, and a good rep.

My dad a business owner,
while mom took care of us.
Somewhere along the line
there was a lack of trust.

We wanted for nothing
we had everything,
no one could foresee
the pain time would bring.

Piano, ballet, and bible study too,
PTA meeting's, vacations
oh yes we saw a few.

As time moved along
something went wrong,
booze, drugs, abuse
had torn us apart.

This just the beginning
of a trail of broken hearts.
We were a family
now ripped and torn apart.

Soon unkept the house would fall
a house divided won't stand at all.
Two fires later, lapsed insurance,
we were on our way, lost endurance.

My God help us please.
Our cries were to late
we all had to leave
didn't know our own fate.

We all split up and
went our own way,
I wondered would we ever
come home again someday.

They tore it all down
it no longer exists.
The place I grew up,
it sure will be missed.

No trace at all,
no trace of home,
the place I grew up
its gone for good.

This wasn't suppose to happen,
it wasn't suppose to be.
Now all I'm left with are
these faded memories.
