Behind the Clouds

Shining brighter than the sun
A little girl's smile beams to everyone.
Not one soul has not come to love
God's greatest gift to Earth from above.
A star in the night, a sun in the day
Touching each heart with a loving ray.
Dreamless beauty from head to toe,
With a personality that only grows.
Such a child at only age four
What parent could ask for anything more?

A puff of smoke, an evil laugh
Can cut that little girl in half.
A life destroyed by one small act,
Destroyed so fast, no time to react.
The shine in her face, a sparkle in her hair
Gone so fast, as if never there.
A bright young child so full of life
Now feels nothing, only a world of strife.
An endless joy in her soul
Leaves the world a gaping hole.
The coldest day, the darkest night
Sun's heat no longer warm, stars no longer bright.

Crying, weeping, wailing.
Gone, lost, vanished.
Personality hidden and smothered.
The endless sun pushed behind the clouds.
