No Time Today

by Twisted Heart   Sep 16, 2007

So many times we hurry by
too busy we may think
We have no time, it seems to pass
without a chance to blink

Inside our hurried lives we go
unsure but all the while
No time to stop, we must make haste
no time to even smile

Among the many changes
we may face without a clue
No time to smell the roses
or feel the morning dew.

We scurry on without a thought
of moments that have passed
Unable to retrieve them now
they came and went so fast.

If only we could gather up
the time that we have lost
And live it all with fortitude
not caring what it cost.

To take the time to smell a flower
or see a sun that sets
Or spend an afternoon with one
who sometimes we forget.

To stop and feel an autumn breeze
that lifts our spirits high
Or drink from falling raindrops
that cascade from the sky.

To spend time blowing bubbles
with a daughter or a son
An extra special afternoon
that's shared with everyone.

Such dreams they come inside my mind
Then quickly go away
You see, I am too busy now
I have no time to play.

There's laundry, dishes, and my job
There's groceries left to buy
I've wasted time with dreams you see
I've let them fill my mind.

Now I must rush, I must make haste
there's so much left to do.
I have no time for silly thoughts
spare moments are so few.

I'd love to do so many things
if I just had my way
But I am much too busy now
I have no time today.

AMAZING. I am so speechless right now. I loved the rhymes in this and the flow and imagery, along with the overall message. Everything you wrote is so true, if only we weren`t all so busy, we`d have the time to stop and smell the flowers or feel sand between our toes...although a sad poem, this also really inspired me ! :]

Good piece with a good message. I like how this didn't have a happy ending, that you too left in too much of a hurry. I enjoyed several lines from this piece.
Or spend an afternoon with one
    who sometimes we forget.
    Or drink from falling raindrops
    that cascade from the sky.
Those were both good. The first one was emotional, and the second one was a visual, almost could taste it in my mouth. Great job!
