Can I compare you to a summer's night?

by Chris   Sep 16, 2007

Can I compare you to a summer's night?
The cool breeze a comforting sigh.
Wretched heat losing the everlasting fight;
To the day the sun must say goodbye.
Winters chill is far too cold for my skin,
It's bite too strong for my fingers.
Hands grasping at the body, pressing in.
Freezing claw against the flesh lingers;
Waiting for the soothing summer touch
To ease the pain which absence forgot.
Spring only a useless crutch
To restrain the awful winter's rot.
But summer night is never gone;
You are always beside me come dawn.
