My Daddy

My heart feels as if it's going to break
another day I fear I may not make

Dearly he was loved and will be missed
last time I saw him on his head I kissed

He was very old and in a lot of pain
from his life I hope the young ones will gain

Think of his words and listen well
he would always say "Don't get old it's just hell"

He worked hard everyday, he had the will
he needed to take care of his family
he knew he had to pay that bill

He was always happy to see you when you came by
when I think of his smile all I can do is cry

I'll hold dearly all the memories down deep in my heart
the hat, the two wallets, suspenders, and cane
one day we will be with you Dad we will no longer be apart

I couldn't have hand picked a better Dad
Now I'm left here lonely, shell shocked and sad

I know a lot of you never heard he loved you enough
Because he was from the old school , He was raised to be tough

He had a sense of humor that surpassed them all
"Hey come pull my finger" in a full room of people he would call

So Daddy I hope your in heaven smiling down from your cloud
to see the family that you created feeling very loved and proud

With everlasting love. I will miss you everyday of my life Daddy

The blood of a poets broken heart shows up well on the white page with words that show the cracks and depths of that wounded heart. Keep up the good works.
