New Promise

by Koby Smith   Sep 17, 2007

I made you a promise a long time ago
I made you a promise I could not uphold.

When I think of that promise I just want to cry
When I wrote that promise I was confused inside.

I made you the promise that I will always love you
And said promise is a word no one can undo.

So we both know I broke it, it is gone, it has died
But I want to make another promise that I can live by.

I promise through rain, sleet, snow and hell
That this promise I make will be upheld.

I promise to listen if you do something wrong
I promise to listen and try to stay calm.

I promise to stay clean because you were there for me
I promise to be there for you if you ever need.

I promise to hug you and snuggle you tight
I promise to you warmth on those cold nights.

I promise to stay even if I need to go
I promise to be there when you need someone to hold

I promise no girl will tear us apart
I promise this time this is all from the heart.

I promise and promise and promise this too
I promise that baby, I truly love you.
