Comforting Feathers

by Arunansu   Sep 18, 2007

Rebellious flames
caged inside an inglenook
and
a remote heart -
baking long-lived desires,
invites refuge
to feelings on tour
amid the icing.

Timbered trunks
endure
rimed skeletal support
bearing cadavers
of summertime shelter.

What can
the birds be doing
this winter?

Not all took off
to southern skies.

Shuddering starlings
maybe huddled together,
grouses hiding in snowdrifts.
Woodpeckers might prefer
to remain holed up
within hollow woods.

But,
You have migrated.

How I yearn for wings
shipping me to you,
and
an overlay of
pulpy feathers,
comforting us.
