Pretty man and the Poet

by JaM   Sep 18, 2007

In the beginning,
you won over my heart.
You were sweet and charming,
that's when it began to start.

We talked over the phone,
staying up late hours of the night.
I knew we connected,
it just felt so right.

We rushed in so fast,
to be together in our place.
The memories we have,
no one will erase.

Hard times of struggles,
that lasted so long.
Through our first break,
we came out strong.

When you said "I've changed,"
it sounded persuading.
Now I see that it hasn't,
and my love is fading.

When I say "I love you,"
it comes from my heart.
But I'm no longer happy,
We've fallen apart.

Please understand how I feel,
I'm always angry or upset.
I don't want to say anything,
that I might regret.

Your my pretty man,
and you mean the world to me.
But I'm just the poet,
who's letting you free.

My marriage is ending, and i'm the pretty boy and she's the poet. so your poem got me good. you never know, i did change, but apparantly it was to late. maybe he really did change for the better. anyway, good luck and i hope it works out.

Very heartfelt and so sad. There are times when we love someone but other feelings keep us from giving our all and things do tend to fall apart.... but if it's real true love and there's understanding and compassion, things can be fixed and worked out.

A beautifully sad write, the rhyme and flow was perfect. Well done and keep on writing.
