Affinity.

by ghosts in bloom   Sep 18, 2007

Tread softly,
Tread carefully.
For you are brightness unequalled
And truth naive to this time.
A collapsion of color
In your eager eyes,
Holds with trembling gaze
The future: like a newborn bird.
Hungry in your hands,
And flightless in your smile.
We need you.
We need you today, and tomorrow,
And everyday thence.
So tread softly, my love.
Tread carefully.
Lay precisely down your naked feet,
On earth untouched.
Where the green blades
And brown grains
Meet intimately with sole,
Your feet become the eyes
Of tomorrow.
Camaraderie unraveled.

Nothing is ever more than this.
Nothing itself, never more than this.
There is nothing more
Than all you are right now.

A DREAM.

So tread softly, my love,
Tread carefully.
For when you tread,
You tread on me.

What a stunning and beautiful peice. I loved your vocabulary choice - soft, lulling and irresistable.
The second stanza really stood out and the ending was so strong.
    A wonderful and memorable poem.
