Reflections

by Salwa   Sep 18, 2007

I look into the mirror,
But I see to my surprise,
A wholly different person,
Looking deep into my eyes.

The carefree little girl I saw,
When I was four or five,
Has now become a woman,
Fighting everyday to survive.

It's really quite scary,
That time has gone so fast,
For what I then called the "present",
Has now become my "past".

I look back into the mirror,
And the face looking back at me,
Is that of a strong woman,
Where a little girl used to be.

Very original and nicely written, with good imagery. I like the descriptions and the rhyming scheme in whole piece, and the flow is excellent.
    My favorite stanza is:

-The carefree little girl I saw,
When I was four or five,
    Has now become a woman,
    Fighting everyday to survive.-

    Keep up!
    5/5 from me
