Wal-Mart Greeting (free verse)

by Ashleigh Skye   Sep 18, 2007

*~Title by Sunny thanx~*

Have you ever noticed that every time you go into Wal-Mart,
It's always the same thing,
People standing at the door just waiting for you,
Waiting to meet you, waiting to greet you.
They don't care about your past,
And they don't judge you,
They simply smile,
And say hello.

A place where stereotypes and racism is forgotten,
For each and every smile is real,
Helping you push your cart or even carry your bags,
And whether they just saw you five minutes ago,
Or not once in the last ten years,
Their greeting is still the same,
They simply smile,
And say hello.

Maybe we can take a lesson from these people,
And next time we see someone a little different,
We won't stop and judge them,
Just because they aren't like us at all.
We will accept them because they are different,
And we will greet them like they do in Wal-Mart,
With a warm smile,
And a caring hello.

I love your analogy here it may be a simple metaphor on the surface, but there is a deeper meaning behind this poem. Even though this poem doesn't rhyme it didn't feel like a free verse to me. There was a rythem to it that caught and held me real tight. Thank you for the exelent read.
