This is sooooo creepy!! I'm going to have nightmares tonight! The description of the gallows in the first and last stanza... I can practically hear that eerie squeaking of the rope against the wood.

    Great work!!

    Hey Tim,

"As the hangman pulls so hard
certainly a ride most would dread
    any last words before...
becoming part of the dancing dead"

Wonderful description of hanging. Very unique. Good word choice.

    Always,
    Jeannie

Ending adds so effective tone to whole piece, it has really deep atmosphere and I love the idea of it. I think that you put it in right category because this one has so many complex meanings. I admire that way that you wrote it...

Oh man, you've ruined me! In Ft Smith there's Judge Parker's gallows and now I'm never gonna be able to even drive by there again, lol.
This is beyond creepy. Just thinking of the swinging noose and the fear that people must have felt back in the day as they even came to watch a hanging. Geez, why would people even want to watch that?!? I'd be cowering in the outhouse, lol.
Great write, keep it up! Love ya, Holly
