Memories Fail and Eyes Deceive

by Israel   Sep 19, 2007

Memories fail and eyes deceive
But God, permit me to keep hers
To lose her would be to lose my life
To forget those sweet eyes who compliment me in one look
Those times where I had everything I needed
Times where I shook, cried, laughed, loved, and cherished
This is my life, my meaning
But memories fail and eyes deceive
Soon I will forget her and everything you mean
For you mean everything to me
But soon I will perish and go to a place where memories don't fail and eyes tell the truth
I will meet you there and have the life I missed while you were gone
But till then I hang on to the tidbits I have left and write this poem to keep my memory alive

For some reason I found this to be extremely sad, I'm not sure why. I liked it though. Beautifully written. 5/5.
