First Wish

I wish to write a poem,
Of all the things I love,
About something truly heartfelt,
Like a lovers touch thereof.

I tried to think of all the things,
That a poet seems to write,
Friends and girls and trees and birds,
Yet nothing feels right.

"Think back" I said inside my head,
"To friendships from your youth",
I saw bullies, fights. My mothers gone,
If I was to tell the truth.

It's getting hard to write now,
With tears stood in my eyes,
After 26 years I understand,
My life I do despise.

I struggle more and more with words,
Due to nothing nice within,
But there has to be that one small thing,
I will not just give in.

I searched and searched, then searched some more,
For days; or so it seems,
Inside my deepest darkest thoughts,
And still no light was seen.

So I cannot write a poem,
About anything I love,
Because not one thing can love me back,
Now that push has come to shove.

    Pete, Saw this posted in Kevin's competition and it is absolutely beautiful.

    Perfect flow and rhyme and so sadly beautiful.
    It reminds me when I got riter's block for many years after an extremely painful breakup.....

    Great concept here. It's definitely a sad and depressing read and you wrote it beautifully. Yet, another wonderful write. 5/5

    Ohh I liked this one a lot!! It flowed beautifully and I felt as if you were talking to yourself and it gave me a peek into our mind. The last two lines were just powerful and an amazing way to end the poem. Well done *5/5*

    This is such a wonderful poem, even tho its quite sad, i really like it, its very powerful in some way i feel, i really like this a lot!!! beautiful!!! 5/5 i must say.

    Aww this one was quite sad to read, truth is I find it easier to write when I'm feeling really emotional....which can be quite a lot lol....beautiful piece Pete.
