Toxic Friend

by goddess-glamourpuss   Sep 19, 2007

I know not when it happened
Cannot plot the pivotal point
I only know that something changed
Your personality flipped

On the outside you are still the same
Perhaps that makes it worse
Everything I used to like
I now find that I loathe

I sometimes wish you'd disappear
Just crawl beneath a stone
Dwelling far away from me
Gone from sight and mind

No longer do you light my days
Now they are filled with blight
Gone are your cutting insights
Replaced with repetitive bile

That black cloud of lethargy
Following in your wake
Is not just yours alone
Raining also on my parade

Your despondency is draining
The way you wrap it like a cloak
It encircles those around you too
Please foul fiend, be gone

Ooh! Lovely! I really enjoy the rhythm you wrote this with, the fact that the fourth lines of each stanza do not rhyme -- creates an abrupt halt, a caesura that is especially fitting!

Again, packed with punch and emotion.
Very nicely penned! I loved it!

    Take Care,
    Smiles,
