Quiet Heroes

by goddess-glamourpuss   Sep 20, 2007

There are no shiny medals
For these soldiers brave and true
With only basic instructions
Are they informed of what to do

Prepared with basic rations
A destination vague
This really is a journey
To test the strong and brave

Though there are many obstacles
To overcome along the way
Never do these heroes tire
From battling through the fray

For precious is the charge they guard
With enemies all around
Defending it with life and limb
By honour are they bound

Yet when the war is over
Bathed in glory shall they be
This legion of quiet heroes
With charges running free

This is a five. It was inspirational and moving. Good choice of words. I'm quite fond of the title as well. Good work.
