The Knights

by Aish   Sep 21, 2007

Amongst the dark, menacing, twisting trees
in the forest as black as night,
two knights were fighting to the death
with cunning, agility and might.

The eerie silence they had broken
and the forest was filled with sounds,
of the constant clang of metal on metal
and their heavy footfalls on the ground.

The knights had fought for hours on end
and they were beginning to tire,
they were constantly tripping on decaying debris
but kept going for love of their sire.

The swords that they held were works of art
balanced and sharp-yet light,
gems were encrusted into the hilts
these gems glinted ever so bright.

The skill they displayed and the strength they showed
was a marvel to men everywhere,
but they were alone in this treacherous place
just the thought of which few could bare.

The moment of glory came up quite abrupt
when one knight was forced to the ground,
the other knight raised his own sword high
their sharp breathing-the only sound.

Down swift came the sword and it ended there quick
the elder and stronger had won,
the younger lay still-food for the flies
Never again would this man see the sun.
