Over the years
I've realized,
most of the time
my life is not unlike
a Terry Gilliam film;
sad, comic, tragic, romantic,
fantastic, poetical, visionary,
deep, thought provoking, surreal
full of despair, full of hope, full of passion,
and so utterly, utterly strange.

(For the uninitiated, Terry Gilliam is a founding member of
Monty Python's Flying Circus (and the only American of
the group). He is an uncompromising director with lofty goals
known for his strange but intriguing films, considered artistic
if somewhat bizarre, but always thought provoking and
interesting. Gilliam is known for refusing to compromise his
vision with the Hollywood standards of film making, being
somewhat of a visionary and a rebel. One of the best
(and under-rated) director/filmakers of over the last three
decades.
Some of his films include:
Tideland
Brazil (he fought the studio viciously to release his
superior director's cut)
The Fisher King
12 Monkeys (with one of Brad Pitt's best performances)
Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas
Time Bandits
The Brothers Grimm
Lost In La Mancha (a documentary of his disaster plagued attempt to film his long planned story of Don Quixote)
Also his work in the Monty Python films/TV series)
