River of sorrow

by JaM   Sep 21, 2007

My river flows wide and deep,
full of pain, tears, and sorrow.
Constantly aching with regret,
with the wonders of tomorrow.

Endless love gladly given to you,
in hopes of kind return.
To follow as always,
a lesson to learn.

Like fallen leaves from a tree,
our relationship crumbles.
I've hit a deep spot in life,
and taken a tumble.

As all seems to continue,
so shall my life.
But my dreams come to an abrupt end,
of one day becoming your wife.

Pouring my heart to you,
like a hot cup of tea.
With fear of hatred,
and no guarantee.

Although things may be rough,
this I need to do.
The saddest part of it all,
is that you didn't have a clue.
