This Moment is New

by Richard S   Sep 21, 2007

You come home to a wagging tail,
And licks to the face.
Your best friend doesn't remember,
How you scolded him this morning,
Or if he does,
This moment is new.

Ever look at your goldfish,
As she swims round and round her bowl
Every trip round is new and surprising.
Wow, is that a castle?
Wow, is that a castle?
This moment is new.

Most of our fellow creatures,
Have no sense of time.
No regrets.
Not that there is no memory,
Just a letting go.
This moment is new.

And we have dominion,
Over the creatures of the earth.
We who carry memories.
We who carry regrets.
But let the animals teach us,
This moment is new.
