Lapse of Reason

by Indian Comma Bean   Sep 22, 2007

We stop at stop signs
because it's the law,
We go on green lights
because we're in a hurry.

We spin the dial
to open the lock,
We find ourselves
staring at the clock.

Challenges face us
all of the day,
scraped knees and
broken hearts.

It all hurts the same way...

Our endurance is tested
In the race to the ribbon,
Loved ones cheer us on,
Others try to trip us up.

You got to keep on,
Your conscious is screaming,
your mind is racing,
Stress and pressure around all of us.

People do bad things,
but is it their actions,
or their intentions that make
it all so wrong to you?

-We say goodbye
to lost ones,
Because life seems to give
but always seems to take.
