Dreaming

by Indian Comma Bean   Sep 22, 2007

Down the cobbled trail,
we walk toward our
long sought destination
which has remained hidden.

We pass the hardships,
all the broken hearts,
all the painful memories
which remain a cornerstone.

All along the way,
we hear the desperate cries
of a soul yet weeping,
it all seemed so familiar.

The trees seemed to listen
as if they understood,
always watching over us,
keeping you safe.

We stride with purpose,
determined to reach
our vague shrouded destiny,
but it seemed so far away.

The stones turned to mud,
while the trees grew dead,
the birds stopped calling
and the sky stopped shining.

The fear was overwhelming,
the memories flooded in,
reminding us of our
quite unhappy past.

To plea for it to stop,
is all so unimaginable,
the madness the torment,
it all just lingered.

But we have to go on,
where the sun starts shining,
and you see the end,
but it's not just a place.

As you see it you'll be shocked
as you've seen it all before,
because it's not till you realize,
it was all in your head.
