Tumbling

by Indian Comma Bean   Sep 22, 2007

My feet tumble across
the surface of a rigid
green edged ocean as I
gaze out on the horizon.

My mind unable to
comprehend the joyous
yet painful memories that
have taken place in the past.

The ocean casts a cool
breeze across the white sand,
leaving me breathless with
my eyes set on the clouds.

Along the path I set my course,
down the dusted trail aged
over centuries of our ancestors
and ponder all my mysteries.

Along the beds of roses,
a single one yet wilts,
as the others flourish I
am only reminded of myself.

The birds fly by in couples,
as the trees whisper to the sky,
the soil keeping base to the grass,
as I am standing here alone.

My senses start to fail,
as I fall into my own mind,
a vast emptiness consumes me,
as I scream out a whisper.

But nothing is heard
and all is yet silence,
hence the darkness is all
that surrounds me as I cry out.

I feel as if I am in an ocean,
the sun has set and I am just
treading the freezing water,
and every direction is down.

As I swim for what seems
an everlasting struggle,
I reach the surroundings
I remember so vividly.

My feet tumble across
the surface of a rigid
green edged ocean as I
gaze out on the horizon.
