A mile to go

by crazyXCrunner   Sep 23, 2007

Breathing fast,
A mile to go.
Why do I do this?
I really don't know.

Feet pounding to the ground,
Sweat dripping off my face.
I've only got 1000 meters,
until I end this race.

Two runners on my tail,
A team mate to my right.
We just need to hold them off,
It's a never ending fight.

Weakened at the knees,
My heart beating like a drum.
Breathing in the cold dry air,
My hands are going numb.

A quarter mile to go,
The finish line in sight.
My adrenaline shifts to overdrive,
I sprint with all my might.

A runner to my left,
We're sprinting side by side.
I cross the line one step ahead,
And man I almost died!

Some people call us crazy,
To deal with all that pain.
But running's just a mental sport,
And yes, We're all insane!
