I`m Not Dead

by HOLLYWOODxBANGBANG   Sep 24, 2007

Rusty knives are digging into my spine,
Because you took away all that was mine,
With a condescending smile, you say:
That it was all meant to play out this way.

Rumors chant through my throbbing head,
But I`m still standing, I`m not dead;
Two years have come and gone now,
And I lost it all, stuck here wondering how.

I let you get to me, slipped into your words;
Forgot all the warnings that I`d heard,
Drowning in misery, I told my heart to beat;
So that you could stomp it out with heavy feet.

And I stand here holding a piece of me,
That I never should have gone and let free,
You can`t fix a broken heart any given day,
By just going and giving it away.

Through it all, I saw me and you in the end;
On a straight and narrow road that didn`t bend,
But I`m not dead, even if the thought of us did die;
`Cuz I know, even the best fairy tales sometimes lie.

    That was a great set of lines as well. I think that the first two lines of your last stanza sounded a tad forced, or maybe it's just that I didn't understand them, but overall the piece was good. Also, thank you very much for all the comments. I appreciate you taking the time to give me an honest critique!
