The father you never had to be

by thomas ayotte   Sep 24, 2007

You both were young
When you and my mother met
Probably didn't know
It was true love yet

Sixteen unforgetable years
Is what I found
You took care of me
Because my father wasn't around

I felt no such pain
As felt when you passed
The sorrows run deep
And will forever last

Now comes the time
For me to be the man
And take care of our family
As only you can

You are loved and missed
And I want the world to see
You were always the father
You didn't have to be.
