Prayer for Life

by Fixxxer   Sep 24, 2007

Oh mercyful God, must you make me wait.
Won't you take this man, won't you set him straight.
You twist up his mind while he appears fine.
So cruel and unkind, unfair, but divine.
What's your great plan for this innocent man.
Will you let him change back into my friend.
My one confidant, my trusted brother.
One to rely on more than another.
I'm losing all faith. I've lost lust for life.
Please give me the strength to get through this strife.
Help me to believe in my hopes and dreams.
Help me to forget the way it all seems.
The way innocents are robbed of their sense.
How benevolence is without conscience.
Why life's left to chance and deliverance.
How this prayer won't make any difference...

That's life?
---------------------------------------------------------------
Times change; Time changes all of us and all life brings.
So strange, living the lyrics of a song fate sings.
Mountains, rise and fall. Rocky peaks turn to sprawling plains.
Fountains, drain and fill. Blowing dust turns to falling rain.

    I loved the lines:
'You twist up his mind while he appears fine.
So cruel and unkind, unfair, but divine.'
Very deep, very poetic. Well done.

I also liked the last part:
'The way innocents are robbed of their sense.
    How benevolence is without conscience.
Why life's left to chance and deliverance.
How this prayer won't make any difference...'

I've felt like that before... it sucks, very much. I hope you got through it okay, and I hope your friend has shown improvement. This poem was very well-written, and I look forward to more.
    5/5!

This is a work to be admired!

"Will you let him change back into my friend.
My one confidant, my trusted brother."

These lines remind me of an old friend who I loved like a brother! 5/5

You did great job with rhymes, and you put a lot of emotions in this piece, expressing them very good.
The choice of words is excellent through the whole piece.
    5/5 from me
