Love

by Anthony   Sep 25, 2007

Have you ever giving someone your heart?
When you felt that connection right from the start?
Did you ever think this all could be true?
Did you ever think that it would turn and hurt you?

Can you see the things that I see?
Can you tell what is wrong with me?
Do you see the happiness there?
Or only a sad, sorrowing, blank stare?

Do you still see joy in this soul?
"Please be careful," was what I was told.
For I thought what I was doing was right,
But now I give up all hope, all fight...

For now is the time that I must decide,
All the passion has left from inside.
The darkness creeps close, longing to stay,
That pain comes stronger each and every day.

What if I told you love was just a lie?
No matter how hard you seem to try.
To prove your undying love for them,
And watch it get crushed again and again.

Now watch closely what it does to you,
For I as well, felt that passion and love once too.
Everything you do comes from the depths,
For Love has so many various steps.

Step one: You do everything you physically can,
You stand up for them, you become that man.
Something inside seems to change,
Each feeling you have begins to rearrange.

You put in your all, everything you have,
Just to be able to hear that one special laugh.
Your feelings become so much stronger,
Over time your love grows larger.

You want to be there always and for awhile,
Only hoping to see her beautiful smile.
When you are not with her, you feel so lost,
It feels as if time is engulfed by a slow frost.

Sitting there, you will want to hold her through the night,
Your caring arms around her, ever so tight.
Your hearts will slowly beat as one,
Till morning comes; alas, the sun.

You'll yearn for that lustful kiss,
Hoping for something called eternal bliss.
You'll stare at her; into those beautiful eyes,
Now you can see where the truth lies.

But everything seems so unbelievably great,
There is no fighting, no arguments, and no hate.
Your whole world swirls into a wonderful daze,
As you stare into her eyes; that lovely gaze.

You do everything you can; you go out of your way,
Just to be there with her and tell her "It's okay."
And when you are there, face to face,
Feels as if every problem you have is slowly erased.

Now, here is my only question I must ask,
And this is my one and only last task.
What do you think you will do,
Once she looks and tells you it is not you?

Step two: Your world will become clear and slowly falls,
Now do remember, you did put in your all.
Nothing remains but a sad, empty, hole,
Where your heart belonged to your loving soul.

You will begin to fight to prove your love,
You'll search the stars and the heaven above.
Your eyes will open, and show your darkest fears,
Each one bringing painful and sorrowing tears.

And then you begin to doubt your feelings,
When everyone tells you, "This stage is healing."
Though you know the truth in it all,
As you sit, depressed, against the cold wall.

Step three: You will beat yourself up thinking it is your fault,
But hey, now you fully realize, she holds your heart.
Now you question yourself; is love really a lie,
But you know the answer on which you rely.

For love couldn't be a lie, it's a coin toss,
As it flies through the air, you feel completely lost.
When it lands there on the ground, you'll stare so hard,
Finally, you'll open up, and let down your guard...

Signed: The one who cares the most...

I have definitely given my fair share of heart to people only to have it smashed like apple sauce!
