Alone with Memories

Alone with Memories
Half a glass of wine later, the memories of her flooded his thoughts. Her sweet smelling perfume and the softness of her touch seemed to be only a faint memory. The air around her always smelled like flowers, and the room brightened every time she entered. Her smile seemed to make the most cynical, sarcastic person become warm and friendly. Oh how his heart ached without her. How cruel life could be within a flash. One minute she was standing beside him, laughing, and the next she was in his arms, lifeless. The glow from her face had even disappeared by the time the ambulance got to the scene. His beautiful bride had left him alone forever. Homemade videos were all he had. Some of the tapes were so worn down from being played over and over, but at least he could hear her voice. The light airiness of her voice would fill the emptiness of the house and his heart. She was always bashful around the camera. On the videos, she was always attempting to shy away from the camera lens. He could hear his own voice in the background telling her how beautiful she looked, and each time her gorgeous pearly white smile would appear. There was just something about her. Maybe it was her innocent appearance, but something--whatever it was--had always hypnotized him. Now that's all gone...she's gone buried beneath the ground.
