If I were to give you my heart, what would you do?
Would you cherish and protect it?
Or would you kick it around?
Taking advantage of the fact that no matter what I love you
Would you put my heart on display for the entire world to know?
Or would you hide it in a hole, ashamed of it to show?
If I fought for your honor and got beaten down, would you answer my call?
Or laugh because I’m on the ground?
If I gave you my heart would you give it back?
Would you claim that anything it once had it now lacked?
Like the Tin Man before me, I exist with no heart
There’s something that beats in me, but it has missing parts
Where is the love it once held in?
Perhaps at the bottom of a trash bin
If I gave you my heart, I guess you would take it
Just for one reason though, so you could break it
