Battles of the Wounded

by Kenzie   Sep 25, 2007

It Hurt and it Stung,
It Festered as it Tainted.
The Words were still
Crystal Clear,
Though it was years later.

The Battle escalated
From Dangerous to Boring.
Maybe not as Bitter as Before,
But aching Scars were still cut Deep.

The Awkward Silences began.
Who was Right,
And Who was Wrong?
Did We Regret all of it,
Or just Parts of it?
None of Us knew for sure.

Thoughts of the Past
Still Plaguing Our minds.
Silently Watching each other
With newly Found Sight.
Sorrow etching deeper
With every Shared Glance.

Months and Months of Treacherous Silence,
But the Pain never Left,
And the Memories never Faded.
Working Ourselves into Corners,
Trying to Forget...
Until I Let Go.
