SOME DANCE ALONE

by Grey Ajurahck   Sep 26, 2007

A generation of lost children cry
oh, to be a rock, to be a feather,
standing under a hole in the sky
as a new wind blows through
bringing a different kind of weather

Emotions overwhelm as words elude,
swooning, a rhapsody mood,
a soul whose colours are rainbow swirled
and sometimes I dance alone
on the edge of the world

Sometimes I see through yesterday's eyes,
sometimes I can only feel what I've heard
and it's times like these that
I'm falling off the edge of the world

And some dance alone
dreaming of far away places
while never leaving home

Absence makes the heart go wander
strolling down melancholy memory pain,
behind self imposed walls of false safety,
nothing ventured, nothing gained

And some dance alone
alive, a smoldering core of love
still pulses within a heart of stone

Sometimes heart and mind combine,
but still reveal not life's purpose,
sometimes a moment of clarity shines,
and eyes of strangers meet mine
saying, Welcome to the surface

And some dance alone
looking for a soul mate
a love they have never known

Sometimes the feeling is larger than life
and sometimes I just want to shout,
exhilarated as I burn from inside out,
sometimes I soar like a heaven bound bird,
and sometimes I fall off the edge of the world

And some dance alone
dreaming of other lives
unaware they create their own

And sometimes I dance alone
on the edge of the world.

Wow, wow... Whole poem is so... breathtaking! Truly deep, excellently written piece. I can relate to some parts of it. I like the topic and the way you wrote it, with great choice of words and wonderful descriptions. The ending two lines are also very effective like a conclusion to this poem.
    My favorite stanza is:

    - Sometimes heart and mind combine,
but still reveal not life's purpose,
sometimes a moment of clarity shines,
and eyes of strangers meet mine
    saying, Welcome to the surface-

    Just... amazing!
    5/5 from me
