Used To Be

by BeautifulDisaster   Sep 26, 2007

Best friends,
is what they used to be.

Now they barely even,
acknowledge each others existence.

They aren't even sure,
what happened to their friendship.

Was it the new boyfriend,
the new friends?

Or could their fading friendship,
have just happened on its own?

No something like that,
doesn't happen on its own.

They used to be so close,
Every tiny secret was shared.

Now they plain out,
cant stand each other.

When they are around each other,
They act like everything is ok.

Even though they know,
They can no longer stand it.

All they really want to know,
Is how and why it happened.

But none of them,
can even come up with that.

So you be the judge,
on why they are no longer friends.

Was it the new friends,
the new boyfriend?

Was it the drugs,
or the drinking?

Has it hurt them permanently,
or will they ever be friends again?

  • This reminds me of a friendship that I had, which she messed up on me, and it's all because of my cousin. Great job at explaining every feeling. 5/5

Great poem. I think anyone who's lost a friend can relate to this poem. The flow was amazing and I loved how you asked questions; that really involves the reader.

I always thought a poet has the right to write two kinds of poems one for the public and another for those he or she cares about. I always held true to one should never be shared with the public and it is my belief that this is one of those. The poem has alot of venting and sorrow that only the person you wrote it for could understand I hope you see my point Plot121
